WVSU currently has the distinction of being the only 1890 Land-Grant University without a formal College of Agriculture. This is the result of our unique history in which we lost the land-grant status in the 1950’s and regained it in 1999. Over the past 23 years since regaining our land-grant designation we have successfully developed a cutting-edge agricultural research program which is not only advancing scientific knowledge but provides outstanding opportunities for our students. We have developed an Extension Service which empowers individuals and communities statewide with impactful out-side of box programming.
There is, right now, a tremendous need nationally for skilled graduates in agriculture and environmental sciences, additionally the world is moving ever closer to needing to feed a global population of 10 Billion people. We feel the time has come to bring a formal School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences back to WVSU and we need your help.
