Student Engagement Scholarships
Student engagement scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to recognize students who make significant contributions to student engagement and learning beyond the classroom.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – DEI Champion
As an Historically Black College and University with a Land-Grant designation, West Virginia State strives to be a leader in providing students with purposeful experiential learning opportunities and the development of life-skills. This new initiative will provide entering students an opportunity to serve as a DEI Champion at State, engaging in leadership training and education programs, and participating in transformative service projects. Gifts will be used to help fund scholarships, provide training and education materials, and sponsorships of community service initiatives.
Joey Oden Memorial Scholarship
Named for beloved alumnus, mentor, and colleague, Joseph "Joey" R. Oden, Jr., '89, the Joey Oden Memorial Scholarship at West Virginia State University will recognize students who stand out as leaders, seeking to create a vibrant campus culture and exemplifying Joey's compassion, school spirit, and commitment to brightening the lives of those around him.
